RUS Distribution Spec Books: These books include all Overhead and Underground Distribution assembly drawings with material lists. They are a great reference tool for your operations crew members. Two sizes are available: a small, convenient hand-held size (4.5” x 6.5”) or a standard size (8 ½” x 11”).

Department Responsibilities
Develop schedule from initial line design through final as-built documentation of the project.
Examine, analyze, and take inventory of existing distribution lines.
Utilize the latest software such as AutoCAD™, PLS-CADD™, or MicroStation™.
Create design/construction document packages including plan and profile drawings, staking sheets, structure drawings, material lists, and sag/tension charts.
Prepare RUS forms needed to execute the bidding and the construction processes.
Organize and facilitate bid meetings and pre-construction meetings.
Administer work order inspections and execution of RUS Form 219.
Prepare and execute crossing permits, including but not limited to, Department of Transportation, railroad, waterway, gas pipeline, and Duke Energy crossings.
Prepare and administer RUS 790 overhead and underground contracts.
